My paintings are about what is pop

Carole Freysz Gutierrez has been dealing with juxtaposition all her life. She was born and raised in Switzerland. She now lives in the United States. She still has her feet on both continents and frequently travels back and forth. Her early professional training was in Zurich, Switzerland where she earned her degree in Fabric Design at the School of Arts of Zurich. She furthered her studio training at New York University where she earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in fine arts. Carole and her husband lived in Frankfurt, Germany, in London, England, and in Zurich, Switzerland before moving to New York.

The continuous theme of juxtaposition, tension, and search for harmony in Carole's work may be a reflection of her geographic vantage point. Her awareness of cultural differences, and human similarities, provides a pool of inspiration for her painting. Integration and differentiation are strong forces within her life and work.

Carole has exhibited in Europe and in New York, most recently at the DM Contemporary, Mill Neck, N.Y. Other exhibitions include Gallery Rosengarten, Zurich, Switzerland, Kunsthalle Zurich, Switzerland, Museum fuer Gestaltung, Zurich, Switzerland, Grey Gallery, New York. Her paintings have been sold to individuals in Switzerland, England and the United States.

Carole Freysz Gutierrez was born in 1959 and is married with two children. Her studio is on Long Island, New York.
